New camera plant for Canon

I don't know where to post this, but thought it might be interesting.

Canon is going to build a new plant in Japan to increase its production capacity for camera. The plant should open in December '09 and produce at first only compact cameras. It is however planned to produce also SLRs in the future.

The plant, slated to come onstream in December 2009, will have capacity to make 4 million compact cameras a year, Canon said.

Although Canon initially will make only compact digital cameras at the new facility, it also plans to start manufacturing single lens reflex (SLR) models there in the future.
