Hi, I was just wondering what type of file do I put on a cd when its TFP work? I'm shooting in the highest quality jpeg. Also if I edit a couple of pictures should I give them a downsized version?

Time For Prints...Often used in fashion/modelling circles.. Instead of paying for the model's time you give her/him prints or a CD of images.. Usually done with models first starting out wanting to build up their portfolios..

Surely you mean TFCD - otherwise, you'd have to give him/her prints.;)

TFP is "Time For Print" It is a term used when hireing models that are to be paid with prints from the shoot rather than money. It is becoming TFCD "Time For CD"
very quickley as a lot of shoots are never actually printed, but stay digital through the entire process.

Put on it what you agreed to put on it. Or did you leave that part out? The amount of pictures to be given is usually agreed to before hand. Its common to be 5-10. but in reality it is totally variable depending on what you are shooting. As the model usually is not a Photoshop jockey, give them jpg's of your final edits. A full size as well as a smaller one that they can use directly in a website. They want a copy for their portfolio, and a lot of them are online. So the smaller one is handy. It is the one they will most likely use. The full size one, they will look at when they get home because it is so big. But will probably do almost nothing with it. But give it to them anyway.

ah ok, I've only shot friends of mine so far so I've been giving them the high quality jpeg. But I didn't know to only give them a handful of pictures. Ah, so much to learn.

Its not "only a handful" It changes with what you are shooting. Such as I have shot for a single concept. So all of the pictures are only slightly different. I would not give the model 7 of them. They are all the same. I would only give the one that made the cut. And in its final edited form. If you are just shooting and have 3 wardrobe changes at 5 locations, I would give atleast 1 shot from each combination. 3 changes X 5 locations = 15 images. I think you get the idea.,

I like to give them the best representation of the shoot. It might be 5 images or it might be ten.. The model could be your next wedding shoot or lead to other opportunities. Thats the way I roll *LOL*
Anyway I use lightroom and export web photo gallery images.I include my contact info on the CD. I also give them the high rez images in a folder on the same cd. Finally I use first auto run express. This will auto launch the CD when it is loaded into a computer.
