On Friday morning as I was getting my morning fix of this wonderful forum, sirens alerted me to a fire right around the corner. Unfortunately, it was one of my favorite restaurants. Thankfully, there were no injuries.

I like these photos, they show you have a good eye for what is happening.
I especially like shot number 8 (38437368.jpg) I don’t know why but this one just jumps out at me.

Nice shots, I like Number 4 and 8. I like the way you have captured the expresion on the firefighters face, in number 4. In number 8 it is the way they can be seen raising above all the smoke. If was good no one was hurt, and hope they get the place up and running again soon

G'Day.
Awesome shots of the unfortunate end for the building. I like #3 because of all the water running down over the balconies - gives an idea of just about much they have sprayed in there. Also like #5 and #6 becasue of the way the fireman seem to be dissappearing into the smoke.

Great shots. My personal favorite shot is #8, I like the look of the firefighters immerging from the smoke of battle like warriors.

they are wonderful shots Mills

the smoke is so dense.
that alone is such a danger for all concerned

you got them really well.
the expression on the fireman's face says it all

the third last shot especially shows such heavy smoke
also we can see so much damage maybe done to so many other things around
like those electric pylons (2nd last shot)

probably an optical illusion as regards the distance between the flames and the wires
but even so there is so much work for everyone after a fire like it

about the heavy smoke
do you ever get caught up in it, getting so close
and do you wear much protection in that regards

great shots.

thanks

Thanks Everyone!

Marie, I usually need to get all clothes in the washer right away upon my return. The smoke is the worst part. If you can believe it, I can still smell smoke on my Mark II. Even after the thorough cleaning. I even had a little sore throat after this one. And I am very careful.

ComEd (Electric Company) responds to all fires to turn off power (Peoples Gas also). Power lines are always in the way.

what can I say
thanks Mills
but don't get too close as the wind could whip the smoke in any direction at any second
at any stage.
these pictures show that must be the closest you got ? (in heavy smoke like it )
smoke is always a great danger
and all the more depending on what could be burning up inside the building there

it's a wonder they let you through
even though you take responsibility for yourself , they will be held responsible should anything happen to you ?

hope you rinse out the smoke out of your throat
as much as possible

and sorry to hear that the mark11 is smoking a little too
:(

Dispatchermike21, Thanks. That image is getting quite a bit of attention. The Guys in the Bucket have all asked for Prints! Now, I think I have another one that is even better of the same situation and Tower Ladder Company. May have to request that my esteemed friends here choose because I can't.

Another great series of fire shots. I really love the 4th one, his face tells it all.
