good call on the ear phones. Every year i see the photographers have been in the pit so i might leave my 70-200 home to save some weight on my back

Definately take you 70 to 200 ... What if you decide to take a few fan pictures off in the distance or you want to shoot scary close *LOL*
A few times I have kicked myself for not taking all of my lenses. Its best to have the right coverage.

Figure on bringing what you need to cover a set range. I'll have 18-75 covered at f/2.8, and 70-200 covered at f/4. Not too shabby for a daylight concert.
+1 for the earplugs. I keep a few disposable pairs in my bag, and I have a more long term set that I have with me as well.

I'm just kicking myself for not getting an ultra wide to cover the void I have below 18mm. Ah well, maybe next time.

Just as any extended duration of a show/gig,
take excess battery power, storage and AA batteries for flashes.
Always hold onto your gear. You can decide which lens to use when you see how much distance you have between you and the stage/band, but I suggest maybe 135 on the long end if you can rent such a lens. If not, just settle with what you can, I feel the 70-200 might be too much so stick with your wider lenses unless you have some space and use smaller apertures where possible.
This is all based on the fact you have all your lenses with you when you go, the 70-200 pouch and maybe a waistbag should be sufficient.

All of this should be 100% however I've never covered a gig. Good luck!
