it doesnt do much for me, all the blacks blend in with eachother, the subject and background kinda mushed into 1. keeping them separate is your best bet

I think it would be a great shot but I don't care for the post processing you did. The white shirt is way out and the vignetting make the rest of the picture look dull.

I like the idea though, of the kids silloutted at the end of the walk and yours running to join them.

It's bad, real bad!

So was my first efforts, as well as every one elses on the planet. Photoshop is a very complicated program that takes alot of time and practice.

The key is to not get discouraged when your early efforts don't measure up to the photo in your minds eye.

Keep at it and you'll do fine, eventually!

Thanks for being honest. The exposure was horrible in this picture anyway, and I was chasing her camera in one hand bag in the other. I'll keep trying! I am trying not to get discouraged. Any good tutorials online you may suggest. Any help would be wonderful!

I am not sure how to do that (add Raw image) I took these in raw but when I get to them in photoshop they turn into jpegs, maybe you can explain how.

Well a RAW file is basically the raw information from the sensor. So, you can view this in the camera no problem, but Windows (and most software) can't understand RAW as it isn't a typical raster image type. So, you open it using special software like Adobe Bridge which is made to understand it. Notice how you can perfectly adjust the white balance of a RAW image on your PC, as if you set it in the camera. So if you have it wrong, you can just change it. That is one thing I love about RAW. Especially shooting in doors etc. Also, you can boost blacks, vibrancy and saturation really nicely on screen to make a more dramatic picture.
Thats just the start, RAW rocks! However, when you save photos onto your machine they need to be converted to JPEG to view in Explorer etc or to share with others.

That photo is much much better.

Cool, that's what i wanted to capture. I wanted to have them in the background.

So if my camera is set to raw, and i upload my pic's from my camera are they now jpegs? How do I keep them in the raw, and yet view them, what do I need to download to view the raw files. I am using elements for pp, but does that convert the files? Im so cofussed?

usually your camera will come with a RAW converter. Think of raw like a film negative, and think of the raw converter like the dark room, where you would develope the photo. If your using a canon DSLR, then you should have a disk with a program called Digital Photo Professional. You can convert your RAW images to jpeg images through that, essentially developing the film.

for more about it you can just google "How to convert RAW image"
