Looking for ideas/places around the house/easy places where to take pics of small childern. Lighting seems to be a big problem for me. Saving the pennies for a flash.

The bath tub can be a very fun place to take pics...the kids are having fun and playing and splashing :) Bathtime is always a fun time! A flash will definitely help..especially indoors in low light..like the bathroom :)

Very nice shot :) Cute kid...good stuff :)

I would add a good amount of vignetting and cool down the picture a bit and turn up the contrast.

Thanks for the comment. I need all the advice I can get. Still trying to learn photoshop. Its really hard for me to make adjustments without it looking fake or really "digitalized". If thats a word.

Very nice closeup, as far as photoshop goes practice and play around with it thats how you learn and or get a book there are plenty of them out there Scott Kelby has a variety of books on photoshop.

the photo is terrific! I think its great without flash.
tub shots do require adjusting white balance and usually up'ing the exposure also (with white tubs/walls), both of which I applied to edit below. if your camera supports it you can make these adjustments in the camera, but both these are fairly easy to do in PP, especially if you shoot in raw format. this image can also use a little lightening of the eyes (teeth are great, but eyes are not as bright). thats a bit outside my skill set unfortunately... maybe a little more exposure compensation would do it??
cheers -- alex.

that photo is very cute! The above edit is great.
Best lighting around the house is by a big window or glass door - play around with times of day and see when you get the best light in a certain spot, then make it into a fun play area while you shoot away.

Who needs a flash - it doesn't get any better! Great shot and adorable little boy!!!

Think about NOT using the word "retarded" in a derogatory manner - it insults those who cannot defend themselves - and hurts the ones who love them. Please see: http://www.r-word.org/ (external link)

Thanks for the comment. Went to the Library last week with my daughter but forgot the card. So ended up just looking at Ansel Adams 100.

Thanks for the insight. I always shoot in Raw. I know how to adjust the exposure but will have to look at that white Balance. Is the done with curves.
