Just wanted to let people know about the deal I got on some air cushioned light stands. Similar ones that I have found at B&H and other sites go for $25-40 plus shipping. I have bought 3 of these successfully on eBay for about $18 including shipping.

This is one of the ones I bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com …eName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008 (external link)

If you search eBay for "light stand air" you will find a few listings for the same light stand for with a $0.98 starting price. There are a few different names selling the same item, but I'm 99% sure they are all the same company selling them.

Anyways, I bid $0.98 on 3 separate auctions and won all 3 for the $0.98 price. The first one showed up today and it looks great, exactly as the auction stated, looks to be pretty good quality. I'm just going to be using these to mount flashes around vehicles for night shots, so they will just be mounting a couple Sunpak 383s and a 430ex.

Anyways, I hope this helps someone else out as I think 3 stands for about $54 is a pretty good deal. :)

Also the model on the stand itself says "W-806"

just make sure they can hold some weight....that footprint doesn't look too wide...and I am afraid that if used outside...tumble down they will go...bargains are great, but if you have some expensive lights, albeit they are spring cushioned, a minor knock might send your lights to the floor...

That was with the legs all the way extended out. You can adjust how wide the footprint it and lock it in with a knob wherever you want. :)

Does it really matter when the total price with shipping is a good deal?

maybe show or measure the footprint with the legs extended out, not up for height. Seems like a bargain for indoor use.

The open footprint is HUGE!!
seems nice and sturdy... but I have nothing to compare them to.

Here you go. One all the way down, and one all the way up.

I got all 3 very fast.

How flimsy is it when fully extended? I've seen some that start to bend once you put a speedlight on them.

are you able to aim the light, or do you need some kind of swivel head like on a tripod?

These don't seem flimsy at all...with my 430ex on there it doesn't bend.

There is nothing for rotating the light on these, you would need a ball head or something to do that.

do you think these stands could support an alienbees flash and soft box without any problem?
