I have a G2 that won't charge the onboard battery.

Here are the symptoms:
- Plugged into AC power, camera functions normally without a battery installed. Conclusion: AC adapter is functioning.
- Using batteries charged on an external charger, the camera functions normally. Conclusion: the batteries aren't the problem.
- Bottom line: on AC power, charge light on the camera DOES NOT illuminate under any condition, no matter what the charge condition of the internal battery

Here's what I've tried:
- swapped out batteries - no change
- changed AC wall outlets - no change
- checked firmware version. Upgrade not required.
- charged batteries on an external charger. All accept a charge.

Any thoughts? It seems to me that I have an internal charging system problem.

Not sure if this is applicable to the G-2, however, my G-1 manual states, "If the main dial is set to any position other than OFF while charging, the battery pack will stop charging and the household electrical current will power the camera."

I would guess that you've shut off the camera, however, we sometimes overlook the simple stuff.

Good luck,

Hi - I have a similar problem with my G2, although it seems more intermittent. Sometimes the battery will appear to charge normally, sometimes it won't charge at all, even if left plugged in over night (I've replaced the battery and the old and the new perform similarly). Regardless, when I put what appears to be a fully-charged battery into the camera, it will operate normally for 3-5 minutes, take a few shots, etc., and then the battery indicator jumps to red/low battery, and if I don't turn off the camera, it shuts itself off. I have not tried an external charger yet. Does your camera work normally after a battery is charged with the external?
