I like them. Definitely better then what I can do, I tend to avoid taking portrait shots. Not good at them, I'm hoping to pick up a flash soon so I can join you in the strobist meets.

On the side note, are we doing something for Leesa tomorrow o.O?

What are the details for it? If I'm going I have to bring my gear to work. Leesa where are you!

Tom basically said b&h at 6pm. Is that definite? How many people are attending and what are we doing exactly?

Tom didn't say anything to me, except if I can make it or not.. I'm not sure if I can be at B&H by 6pm.. I get off work at 5:30 and I work at City hall.

I'm waiting for more details, actually I'm debating whether I should pick up a new 430ex for $240 or stalk out the forums for a used one. I figure $40 can get me a set of triggers. I want to start joining the strobist meets.

Just a little heads up about the strobist meets. I went to 1-2 of the general ones where there were 5-10 people from the strobist group. It was actually quite fun and you do learn stuff but I found it a little chaotic when it comes to shooting. There's just way too many ideas/opinions and people end up talk more than shooting.

What really worked for me was finding 1-2 friends from that group and doing our own thing on the side. I learned so much more plus I didn't need to jockey around with 10 other guys in regards to shooting the model. Now, mind you, I'm speaking from limited experience since I've only done 2 shoots with a small crew. 1st time my friend lined up a model and 2nd time my model flaked and we had to recruit off the streets (which I am more than happy to). The progression is addicting. Just my 2 cents.

Could I tag along with you Ken and learn from you when I pick up a flash?

---
I might bail on tomorrow's event, sorry Lessa. I'll check this thread tomorrow morning before I head to work.

I'll talk to my friend and if there's only 2 of us for a shoot we'll take you along. Hopefully you'll understand but we try to keep the group to only 2-3 photographers since we only have 1 model.

The basics you'll need is:

- Flash
- Cactus V2 triggers (my friend uses that so in a way since pocket wizards are not compatible so I bought them as well)
- If possible light stand & umbrella

I'm still relatively new at this myself but I'd be more than happy to pass on stuff I do know.

Ken, are you going to the Strobist meet tomorrow.

Yeah I think so. If there's a lot of people then I might just go there to meet people and maybe shoot a little on the side. Personally I just really want to shoot a ton. I'm so addicted.

Tom emailed me earlier about maybe grabbing food. If our crew ain't too big it would be nice to get dinner.
