After trying one out a week or two ago, I have now added the EF1.4X II Extender to my kit and used it last night on the 70-2002.8L for the first time. Here are some samples. I think I am going to be very happy with the little bit of extra reach. C&C Appreciated. EXIF attached. (FYI this game was a nightmare with the sun making their pants nuclear white and also creating harsh shadows on their faces, especially at plate. I did what I could to compensate where possible). All images from this game can be found at: http://www.cjscons.com/ghbaseball/jul8/ (external link)

seems to be zero IQ lost with the 1.4X TC...

that's on my next to buy list, since the 300 and 400 2.8 is still too ex...

The 1.4 extender on the 70-200 makes an awesome combination for all sports action in good (insert daylight) light. For youth sports, where access is virtually unlimited, this combination is far more useable than the long primes.

Your images are a great testament.......nicely done!!!

I disagree, I would rather use my 400/2.8. I have shot tons of youth baseball/softball this spring and almost all of it with the 400.

Personally, I'd use a little sharpening in them, but not bad.

When I got my 1.4x tele, it made me so excited to actually be able to shoot baseball.

Well of course, if presented with those two options...:)

I need to upgrade to the 300 2.8 I have seen the WOW factor from that lens.

I am still using the sigma 70-200 2.8 w/ 1.4 TC getting ok pics..

Oh yea I need to upgrade....just wondering how long would it take to pay off the 300 mm lens when trying to sell youth sport pic....:)

Nice work...these look good. The 1.4 is a great addition to that lens...as well as the 300 f2.8. 420mm @ f4 using the 300 f2.8+1.4TC is easier than lugging two big lenses around ;)

Flo:
Best price I could find was $290US at B&H out of NY, plus $35 for UPS shipping. Other US chains may have for less but I've used B&H before and were familiar with them. Came via UPS no problems. Price at our camera stores here in Victoria were $449 CDN plus GST (5%) and PST (7%)...and there is no way I am going to pay $150 plus tax extra when the dollar is pretty much at par these days.
