Chester Zoo.

I have done several shoots there, the old Orang Utan exhibit was great for photography as you were on the same level, close to the orangs and with nothing in the way. The new one is very swish but you generally view them from high up, through glass, and last time I was there I didn't get a single usable shot of the Orangs.

Although there are other photogenic animals at Chester, it was always the Orangs I went for, so I haven't been back for quite a while.

That youngster in my avatar was a real cutie and would really play up for the cameras. I have shots of him going back to when he was a babe in arms, but he became a star when he became more independent and would play with his older siblings.

Was that the 'realm of the red ape' orang house? That's the new one and it is much harder to photograph them. With the old one and the 'islands', they would wander in and out, so you just had to check back a bit later and they would be out causing mayhem.

I've not been to MW yet, but I did watch all the monkey life progs on ch5 and so it is on my list for a visit at some point. I seem to have been concentrating more on big cats this last year or so.
