I'm not sure how to categorize this photo...portrait or otherwise. I seldom take shot's of people with my "good" camera. I kind of leave that up to my wife and her point and shoot ELPH. My sister asked me to take some shot's of her grand daughter (my niece niece? :) ) while we were at the beach because she forgot her camera ( I was shooting some surfers). I think they turned out kind of nice and this one is my favorite. I guess I'd like some comments from people who shoot people/portraits alot. I'm a very amateur photographer and I shoot for a hobby.

I took this shot with my 40D and 300 f4 IS L lens set at f 8.0 at 200 ISO on a bright sunny day. Shot hand held. EXIF should be intact.

Hope you like. Thanks

Henry

Henry, that is a great shot! You only have a 300? That's amazing! You must have been standing down the block across the street to take that shot!

Thank you! Glad you like it. I forgot to mention.. It's a crop of about 30%.

Thank you Matt and Kim. I appreciate it.

I was thinking that the "mystery" hands holding her up might be a distraction but I'm probably being too nit picky.. I like it as it is regardless.

Nothing wrong with that shot! I think you have just the right crop, not to much of the arm lifting her, you didn't chop her head off and the water dropplets on the left are perfect. Good work.

Very nice, might be a tad red. Have you tried backing a bit of the red out?

Thanks for the suggestion. I can pull a little red out and see how it looks. I'll post it again later when I have some time to work on it.
