The first picture is of the wash right behind us, it caught on fire from the fireworks. YIKES!

Is it just me or do fireworks seem a bit more sophisticated now than they used to be? They used to be just a big bang and a lot of brilliant phosphous flying around. Now they seem more akin to little transient works of art, replete with paintings of palm trees. I definitely like that last one. If it were mine I might crop it a little tighter, but the image is great.

Me, too. I have to shoot 20mm as I don't know what/where they will be, but there's no rule that says everything has to be in 2:3 or 8:10 format.

Good job, but I see that you were shooting at f/2.8 That doesn't give you too much DOF if your focus is off a bit, so I use f/11-16:

lucky! but I bet you had to wait a long long time for those fireworks right? cause the storm was really close. i was up on some hill at like 39th ave and utopia and i was able to see several fireworks shows. but they were a bit far for 200mm on my camera :-/
