B&W or Color?

Sharp picture. I personally like the B&W. I believe the focal length of 5.8mm actually turns out to be 35mm. I guess this has to do with the smaller sensor?

Well, I looked it up, just to round out my education on another Canon camera.
iN5P1Rr3 has it correct.

The specs on it in terms of its 35 mm equivalency are that it is equivalent to a 35 mm focal length at its widest setting and is equivalent to a 105 mm lens at its max telephoto setting.
