I have been struggling with my post processing for some time and wondered how these look. Are the colors "right" on the color image? Do I need more contrast in the BW image? Thanks so much for any feedback you are able to give, I really do appreciate it.

I like the B&W conversion but the color seems heavily saturated to me. colors are OK though, just .... heavy?

Well, for the color photo, I think the White Balance looks fine, I would say the blackpoint is off though. I would say try a more subtle approach to the processing...

Thank you for your feedback- time to de-saturate. I brought the saturation down a bit on this one, does it look a better ( to me the background looks better- less lime green but now her face seems dull- does it look that way to you?)

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I went back to the drawing board and started over with the original taking a more subtle approach. I think I am over working things. Am I getting closer at all with the processing on this re-do???

In my opinion a significant problem with the photos - and especially evident in the color version - is the blown highlights. Seems like an odd thing to say but if you look at portions of her right cheek, nose, and shirt there are lots of blown highlight areas.

If you have Photoshop CS3 you can fix the blown highlights by opening the photo in Adobe Camera RAW and lowering the exposure by 1 stop, increasing the Recovery slider to bring back detail in the blown area (especially the skin), and increasing Fill Light to open up the shadow areas.

I would also work on toning down the blown highlights in the background since they draw attention away from the girl's face.

Also, one of the reasons the colors appear off is that the photo was posted with the Adobe RGB color profile embedded. When posting to the Web your photos should be converted to sRGB.

Fed- Thank you for the great feedback. Im going to apply your advice later today when I have some spare time. Also, thanks for the tip re:converting to sRGB. I had wondered about that- that's good to know (it also answers one of my unasked questions)

You are correct that sRGB is what should be used on the web. But with a color managed browser there should be no visible difference caused by the profile - right?
