1D classics sync at 1/500, which is what I will be picking up. I think I'll just keep saving for the PW's, like pro.

which is all great and fine...these are smart business decisions you make ;)

So I'm wondering since I mostly see the other photogs at NCAA basketball events triggering strobes in the rafters using pocketwizards (rather than using ambient light)--How do they stop action with max sync speed on most cameras of 1/250th? Min shutter speed is 1/400 to 1/500 to get sharp images. I'm missing something I ought to know by now...

I am reminded of a story about a speech by President Carter in Japan.

At one point Carter interjected a humorous antidote into the speech.

The translator did not attempt to translate the antidote (typically a tough translation). The translator just indicated something like, President Carter has just told a very funny story, everyone please laugh and clap. The audience laughed and clapped.

At least that is the way I heard this yarn.

Enjoy! Lon

So Regan later indicated he was a donut also?

Flash usually does a pretty good job at freezing action. But I have done most of my basketball games with a f1.8 lens and iso 1600 on my 1dmkIII's with available light and end up pretty dang good shots.

Flash duration. Flash is a brief 1/1000 at full power. Ambient light is too dim to register much in the photo at the shooting aperture and 1/250

Easily believable as very routine actually! After all, much of humor is culturally based or based upon a play of words that would be lost in translation.

You interject an anecdote, whereas you inject an antidote. ;)

Funny story though, hehe. :D
