Oh, I soooooo love it when I get to do this......

Check out this article (seen here a few other times) on SI's final four setup. Its amazing......

Great article, I'll have to read it when I get a chance. The strobe fill at 1/1000 makes sense, I highly doubt f8 though, unless the crowd in the background is what you're going for. Not that I'm any kind of expert, but the photogs on the floor (at least the one's next to me) were shooting f2.8 or thereabouts. That's NCAA basketball, NBA may be different given bigger stadium size and different stadium lighting.

That lighting plan is probably about as big as a basketball game gets. The Georgia dome has a capacity of about 40,000 to 50,000 people depending on how they set it up for a basketball game. I don't think an NBA stadium out there holds that many people.

I think my sense of scale is completely off, I'm used to UNC's Dean Dome (22,000) and Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium (6,000).

The Dean Dome is actually pretty big for a basketball stadium. The Georgia Dome has obnoxiously tall roofs to accommodate booming punts and the ego of Bobby Petrino.

(Oh, sorry, he left.......)

So, anyway.... as soon as someone here at POTN tells me they just LOVE their radio cybersyncs, I'm probably gonna put my order in.

I'm going to be running two flashes with my setup - a Sigma 530 DG ST and a cheapo TTL flash (compatible with Canon film SLR's). Neither flash has a PC port. Would someone be so kind as to point me to some good, cheap PC-hotshoe converters that I can mount on my lightstands?

What the max speed on your 1D? 250? Pual has tested these up to 1/2500 of a sec with a Nikon D50. PW are over priced and bulky.
I also see how PW will make your camera sync any faster ???

oh great.
anybody know the max flash sync with an XTi?
ahha sending my cactus triggers back as soon as they come in the mail. so i can get these :D

I just received my Cybersync, and the instructions say to put the shutter speed to 'one or two clicks' below max sync for the camera...for example, if 1/250 is max syn, shutter speed should be set to 1/200 of 1/160.

That's not too surprising. Of course, that might be a safety net. My max sync speed is 1/250, but line of sight I shoot at 1/320 with no problem using my skyports.

^ Agreed, sort've a safety net. Reduces service calls asking, "hey, why doesn't this trigger?!" or "what are these black borders?"
