Just looking at this still gives me the willies.

My 5D and 24-105 were just a couple of weeks old when I bumped the tripod and sent them crashing to the ground. What a sickening sound that made. I turned just in time to see parts of the lens flying through the air. I'm glad I have insurance.

I can just see the ad on Ebay for this one; Pristine glass! Two weeks old! Some wear on body. Pictures unavailable since this is my only lens.

One of the few things duct tape did not help but it still is the only tool in any man's tool chest.

sorry for your loss... I did the same with a 20D & 16-35 onto concrete a few months ago, one of those sounds you don't forget in a hurry. (my gear survived apart from a broken filter & slightly bent filter thread on the lens)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

The noise of a camera and lens hitting the ground is "oh f***". On second though maybe it's me that said that, I don't recall exactly.
