Wow... the 580EXII is pretty powerful... heres proof!

Yes... a 580EXII on 1/1 @ 105 zoom was used to illuminate the waterfall in this picture I took today :)

Yes, direct flash. The water fall isn't exactly close.

the back of her left leg looks wierd... the shadow just kinda ends and it looks photoshoped...hmm... explain... what happend there?

Come to think of it, it is somewhat weird... there cropped. Just made the good portions larger thats all :)

How many lights were used? Obviously there is one off to the right (notice the shadows from her fingers tips on her left hand), plus there must be some other light source coming in from the left (shadow from hair on her back)

So, where exactly was the 580 placed?

The only way for a 580 to have lit the waterfall is if it were a long distance off camera and almost equidistant between model and waterfall. Inverse Square rule of intensity falloff

EXIF says shot was ISO 100 and f/4.5, so the flash at 105mm setting it could have been 60' away from the waterfall to illuminate it at -1EV compared to the subject.
