Trying out the 1.4 tele on the 180 macro. You do loose a little sharpness but they'd print out ok.

very nice Greg. The ant's on the flowerbuds looks good and nice compostion with the jumping spider. I can't wait to get a macro lens, high on my shopping list, which is kinda long.
just a question, how far back would you be from your subject using the 180 (without x1.4) ..
i'm unsure what to get.. i've been told the 100mm would suit me as i want to use it in the garden but also closeup on my tarantulas .. any ideas?
nice work

thanks Gethin.

The 100 (or around this length) would probably suit better. The 100 has a closer working distance (31cm) compared to the 180 (48cm).

Look good Greg :)
I managed to put myself off using a TC when cropped shots appeared sharper than using a TC.

thanks for the info Greg! yeah the 100 sounds good.. some people also seem to think it's one of Canon's sharpest lenses, from what i've read.

hi M5Man,
yeah i have a bit of a collection going.. i help out with the the Aussie Tarantula Assoc. Tarantulas are a lot more common overseas where you have a range of species you can keep, including recently exported Aussie tarantulas. In Australia, we can only keep Australian tarantulas.
maybe i'm a bit crazy too :)
