Can anyone suggest what is a good but cheap light meter for studio and outdoor shoots?

Cheap is a relative thing... but the Sekonic L-358 is one of the most popular meters out there because of its feature set and reliability. You can't go wrong and if you do a quick search for light meters or Sekonic meter or L-358 you should come up with a wealth of information, reviews, opinions, etc.
