Hey, I am shootiong an indoor concert for a local band. Nothing big, but I have never shot anything like this before. I have a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8. I'm almost positive that is what I'll be using, but if anyone has any kind of advice, it would be greatly appreciated. As to the settings, the f/, shutter speed, iso, etc... thanks in advance. God bless.

Stephen

Too many variable to give you exact settings but as a general rule start at 1600 ISO - shoot and shoot RAW and try to keep your shutter speed up to avoid motion blur and camera shake (while maintaining exposure).

If the venue is not well lit the lens you mention may not be fast enough.

Good luck!

People seem to always freak out and make posts like this. Just go and allow yourself to get into it. It's not nearly as scary as you may think!!

Shoot, check your levels, check your pictures and histograms and youll be fine ;)

use the same advice that was given in this thread that you made a few months back.

Ill just repeat what ive posted a few times in your threads-- learn how to expose and image (including what different f/ stops and shutter speeds and iso settings will change in the image).

I'll suggest you to go and take a rehearsal shot first. You will be getting many tips but ultimately you will be doing what you think will work. If you will practice it 2-3 times in your own house with your friends or family members, it will help you a lot to judge the actual scenario. Don't worry, you will do fine with a little more confidence and tactics to handle the camera.

I assume you are not a novice.:)

Any comments on my pics would be appreciated, thanks: www.MyGreatWorld.com/christian/ (external link)

Learn from your mistakes.

If you do well, then you'll know what works. If the pics aren't that great, learn from it and try something different next time.

Great tips EveryMilesAMemory. I wish I would have read your page before I shot the Essence Festival this year.
