I thought I would post a few photos and comments on the F-5 series of bags.

The A will hold two smaller lenses for me like 45 TSE 35/1.4, the B will hold exactly one more.

The B will hold my 5D with say a 24-105 size mounted with hood not reversed. Reversing the hood does not add to the space as the zipper needs the space to insert the camera.

The C is the same height and width which is about the B length. It can hold a 430 flash in its case with the camera as the zipper opens down the sides a bit and thus the camera comes out a lot easier, You get two dividers that fold in thirds and this can make a floor to make a separate compartment on the bottom.

The Bottom will hold a 180 with tripod ring or two smaller lenses like the TSE's with room for the right angle finder and a couple of 511 batteries. It will not hold a third lens even say a 50 1.4, I was expecting it to but the door does not open the whole width of the bag and it is maybe a half inch too narrow for three TSE's.

It is a slim bag that hold close to the body.

One more note bottom opening is made so it will not open all the way and helps to keep a lens from falling out. The velcro is a bit much and is very loud.

Do you think you could get a 5D w/ 24-105, 430EX, 16-35 II, and small prime in the c?

I have the 5xb. It looks like the zipper on the c is a huge improvement over the b. The b works great with a rebel, and ok with my 30D, but the 5D is just a tad too large to fit comfortably through the opening in my opinion.

Canon 5D II, 5D, 16-35 2.8L II, 24-105 4L IS, 70-200 2.8L IS, 35L, 50L, 85L, 50 1.8 I, 50 1.4

You could do it I tried the 5D and 24-105 on top with 430 in case up top. It makes it hard to get the camera out without removing the flash though.

Either zoom and a prime would fit in the bottom with no trouble but I don't have a 16-35 to try to be sure about it. I don't think it is too much larger than the 24-105 which fits with lots of room.

I have put a 5D in the B but feel they same way that you do, the zippers are to tight for everything but careful insertion. The C's zipper is much better with it going a bit down the side.

Thanks for this, I wasn't familiar with this style of Domke.

So the B will hold the 5D and 24-105 OR 3 smallish lenses, right? And do you have a grip on the 5D for these examples?

B is great for my TS-E set of 3 but no grip on 5D if you use it with camera and lens. It is an OR situation just to be clear. The bags are all the same slimness.

When putting the camera in the B you have to be careful of the zipper scratching on it. I have used it just for the camera and lens but don't like the fit much. Also the B's zipper is a bit heavier duty than the C's

I just added this to another thread. So I thought it might be useful here. I have been able to get a bit more in the bottom part of the bag now that I have used it a bit. I suppose it has stretched some. I think the limit (for the bottom) is a 24-105 OEM hood reversed, 85/1.8 in center with rubber hood, and 35/1.4 OEM hood reversed. The end lenses go in hood to back the 85 hood to front. This is stuffed.

I have a couple of Domke F-5XC bags.

One is set up to hold a 5D Mark-II with the 24-105mm mounted, the 70-200mm f/4IS, and the 580EX flash all of which are vertically oriented with the camera/lens in the middle silo.

The other is set up for a 450D XSi with 17-55mm f/2.8 mounted, a 10-22mm and 70-300mmDO stacked with padded divider, and the 430EX flash. Again, all are vertical with the camera/lens in the middle silo.

The 2 side pockets can hold the charger and extra batteries and memory cards.

I do not use the bottom zippered opening. I may try to cover it on the inside with something as on occasion I have noticed the reversed hood of the 24-105 tending to "catch" on the moulding around the zipper as I remove the camera/lens from the case. Not a big deal ... just a bit of an annoyance.

Will the zippers on the bag scratch a camera or lens when putting it in or taking it out? i am thinking of getter the domke 5xb or the crumpler 5million dollar but dont really like the idea of the zippers scratching my camera but do like the overall look of the domke better.

They're YKK nylon zippers - very gentle to your gear.
