I just got my 40D and I must say it is so much different from my XTi. First thing that I had to get used to was not relying on the LCD to give me all my settings. When I first turned it on, I just stared at the screen for 10 seconds waiting for the screen to display. The button layout is something that I'll have to get use to also.
Now I have to figure out how to set the drive modes and get the AE focus on the * set up.

Have fun with your new camera, it took me a while to grow a custom to the lack of a rear display. It was a very handy feature on the XTi and I still miss it but you get use to the top LCD, just not as convenient.

Congrats, it's a great camera. Hope you were able to keep your XTi as a 2nd body/backup. I have the 40D/XTi, and it can be a real plus to have 2 bodies in a fast-developing photo op.

Enjoy your new rig.

Yeah Im going to keep my XTi as a second body. I can't see myself to sell it for 300-400. Its a great camera. Now I can see why so many people say its apples and oranges when caomparing the 40D and XTi. They are so different in my opinion. If I would have known about the 40D when I first bought my dSLR, it would have been my first choice.

Oh and the sound of 6.5 FPS. Amazing. The sound of shutter is also more pleasing than the XTi.

Yea, I know, but it's an extra step. I was very convenient to just back your eye out of the eye piece a few inches and you can review everything. Eye right back into the viewfinder and off you go. Sometimes it's the littlest things that really add to the usability.

Yes I miss the convience of the automatic LCD review. If only the 40D had to it too...

Oh yeah the autofocus is crazy fast and the viewfinder is very nice also. Lot bigger than the Xti
