Last year I started getting interested in photography, and in April 2008 I got my first DSLR. It's like a new world. I love it.

Lofoten in northern Norway is a peninsula with fjords, mountains and fishing villages. It is located north of the Arctic Cirle which means that the sun is up around the clock this time of year.

Below are some photos that I took during our recent visit, and along the road to/from Trondheim (where we live).

I used the 450D plus 24-105L. C&C is most welcome! I'm still a beginner and want to improve.

You're off to an incredible start. And it is impossible to go wrong with scenery like that...man...I need to visit Norway some day.

I'd be curious to see what you can come up with when there is a sunrise or sunset on the 1st photo.

Very nice. I love the look of that first one. The green of the mountain just becomes bare rock! Wow. 3 and 5 are great too!

Welcome and looking forward to more of your work.

These are very nice Helena - in every respect.
A couple, I would consider snapshots but in general good photographs. 1 and 6 are prize worthy.

Thank you all very much! This was my first thread here, so seeing all the nice comments was a treat.

eldiable: Hope you will some day. Unfortunately, even the main roads in Norway are narrow and never straight, so getting anywhere takes forever (the views are breathtaking though). This means that we can't go there as often as we'd like, but if I do I'll try and take a sunset photo. :)

neumanns: The man was our captain on a small cruise to a place called Trollfjord. Just when I had taken his photo two Sea Eagles (aka White-Tailed Eagles) started circling the boat quite close by. Naturally I got distracted :D so I missed was he was actually doing.

Spike44: Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it. A couple actually were snapshots (#2 and 4). I'd be curious to know which ones you meant?

To everyone: Don't hesitate to give me your honest opinion. I'm not too sensitive and would love to know what can be done better.

Bernt-Inge: Thank you! Yes, you should - it's just beautiful there. :) I wish we could have stayed longer, but we'll go there again later some time. I want to visit the island Røst too and see the birds.

Darsk47: Thanks! Glad you like them.
