Well, I am going to have some fun next week. I will be trying out my 70-200MM lens and panning mode for the first time. I had this lens for a year now and only shot 4 portrait SUPER SHARP pics with it.

I will be photographing a bunch of 5 year olds playing outdoor soccer in uniform (2 teams) and I just can't wait. One of them is a family member and he has a beautifull red/white uniform.

This will give me some practice since this lanscape photog is a noob to sports.

I will be using a FILM CAMERA! HAHA! Thats a new one eh. :o But that is all I have since I have been waiting about 2 years for the new 5D to get snatched up.

Anyways my setup:

- 7NE - (no flashgun I guess)
- Superia 800ISO - will shoot straight up at 800ISO
- 70-200 F4 IS - IS will be on "MODE 2" FOR panning ability.
- Maybe my KEnko 1.4x
- "SPORTS MODE" on camera setting. (AI SERVO)

I was thinking about 400ISO, but I think this would be too slow. YES I know that I would need a 70-200 F/2.8, but I don't have a need for that lense right now. DSLR comes first.

Setup O.K. ?

Thx

No idea what ISO film runs to these days, but I would look around for something faster. You need a shutter speed of around 1/400 to keep an image sharp, but still keep a little subject movement too.
And don't hold your breath on the mkII. the 5D is a fantastic camera, so I would suggest jumping on one as soon as you can.

Anyways my setup:

- 7NE - (no flashgun I guess) ---no flash needed
- Superia 800ISO - will shoot straight up at 800ISO ----good call
- 70-200 F4 IS - IS will be on "MODE 2" FOR panning ability. -----Turn IS off, you will not need to pan to capture action of 5 year olds
- Maybe my KEnko 1.4x-----sure why not ? "shoot tight, crop tighter"
- "SPORTS MODE" on camera setting. (AI SERVO) -----I would avoid this. I would shoot in AV mode, start at f/4 (wide open) and see what shutter speeds you get. depending on the light, you may have to stop down a bit. Try to keep your SS above 1/800th

Try custom function 04-1, move AF to the * button.

And shoot from as low as you can get, even laying down if you can.

And read this thread

good luck!
