I am looking to buy an external flash for my Pro 1, any suggestions as to what the best choices are? I have been inquiring about the 420ex, does the Pro 1 take full advantage of this flash? Thanks in advance.

FlyingPete I am immune More info | Jan 10, 2005 19:01 | #2 I have a 420EX with my G3, it makes a very nice companion, it is not fully functional though, as the AF illuminator does not work with the G series, I doubt it works with the Pro1 either, as it is related to how the camera focuses (All the Powershots I am aware of utilise the green pixels to focus, which is no good for a red AF illuminator!) jwcdds Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 11, 2005 11:25 | #3 I have the 420ex. It works quite well, with the already noted exception that its built-in AF-illuminator will not work. Doesn't even gets triggered because the pro1 never had an AF-assist lamp to trigger in the first place. Perhaps one of these days, Canon will make a different line-up of external flashes that will incorporate a green AF-illuminator. One can only hope. Julian
