I know I should remove the little plants in 4 and maybe try to straighten the "grassline" in the first few pics. One of the problems I have is shooting a gray car on gray roads. CC appreciated.

Thanks! CS3 wants to lighten it a bit but I left it unedited. It was overcast today when I shot these but the hood/windshield still looks a little blown out. Maybe if I shot it at a higher angle? The paint always looks shiner in the shade. I tried adding a TINY bit of contrast and it helped.

What does bg stand for? I'm a newbie.

Welcome to POTN! Except for the tree reflecting in the rear fender, I like #2 the best because the tree at the left helps to frame the shot. I would clone out the two poles at the right.

One of the problems I have is shooting a gray car on gray roads.

Gray/silver cars are the easiest to make look good, so enjoy it while you can! ;)

but the hood/windshield still looks a little blown out.

Is it an important highlight? I think no. Leave it, or you could tone it down or blend in a 2nd RAW exposure if it really bothers you, but that's what you can expect from a mirror surface & that's what we expect to see. (Within limits.) Some guys like to use a CP (Circular Polarizer), & maybe just a touch of it would make you happier, but I generally don't like the other things they do to a shot, like the rainbows you'll usually get in the headlight covers.
The glare in the windshiels will tend to throw your exposure off, though, so you should probably read these.
This shows how the subject can affect the exposure & why manual keeps me worry free:

Try manual in those tough conditions. First set the f-stop & shutter speed you need. Then adjust the ISO.
Need an exposure crutch?

The paint always looks shiner in the shade.

Seen this?

Thanks for all the help! "M" mode seems complicated now but I'll get it eventually!

Re-read the first part of my thread. Exposure compensation is complicated. M is simple in comparison. ;)

So, they're compensating for the meters guestimation of what it's pointing at by guestimating an EC factor & maybe further guestimating another factor for the metering mode? Does this seem easy to you?
