I took these last night in Hinckley, MN. The first pic was taken with my new Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 on my 40D.

Very nice series...I assume that you shot thru the ring fencing.

Nice pictures, do you usually use the 35mm f1.4L for MMA? Do you walk around the ring or stay at the same spot throughout the fights?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, guys.

Haiku- Correct. Save for the first shot, I'm against the fence, shooting through it.

Sethmo- Actually, my main lens use a used 35mm f/2. I used to use a used Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, but I don't find it to be bright or sharp enough, and is noisier than my prime. As for positioning myself, I stay put. I've gotta stay low, use no flash, and not obstruct the view of the fans.

Great shots. I'm always surprised how good photos look through chain link. I have shot through a few backstop before, and most pictures have no ill effects.

Post some more of those 2 girls maybe?

Thanks guys.

JW- I'm a big fan of the "nifty fifty", but with my camera, which happens to have a 1.6x crop factor, it's just too close for MMA, at least for shooting a whole event. I use the 35mm f/2.

35 x 1.6 = 56

But, if you've got a full-frame sensor on your camera, sure. It's even sharper than the Canon 24-70L f/2.8 at all f-stops. Proof? Certainly!
