one the first photo what is on the ground to the right of the young lady it is a bit distracting? Also a bit of a wash out on the first one. Not sure I like the angle of number 3 either.

Number 2 is OOF IMO. agree on the washout on number 1. Number 3 has too much flash with a harsh angle Just my 2 cents.

number 1 just has too much direct flash as already stated...
number 2 has definite potential...aside from being a tad out of focus though, clone out all those stray hairs on her face, which I know is a burden...hate that wind...
number 3 just suffers from a somewhat awkward pose and inadaquate background light...
the water looks like its from my home of new jersey...
but good job and keep shooting!

I shoot Canon, I have some bodies, some lenses, and some lights. Photography is about the image not the L's that get you there. Though, feel free to send me your L's ;)

How should I have metered for the shots.. I was trying to get a meter reading on the brightest part of the BG and then setting my flash to 1 or 1 1/2 times more power.. this outside stuff has gotten be beaten down... I try to do what I've read and it never works for me... anything anyone can tell me I would be most grateful
