just playing around with DOF and my 100mm macro lens (or i should say...LACK of DOF...:p).
in the pic below, i was going for an "action" shot of pulling a shot of espresso.
setup: tripod w/ remote release
lens: 100mm f/2.8 macro
iso: 200
ap: f/5.6
flash: on
shutter: 1/200
the goal was to have everything in focus from the streams forward, but obviously only the front of the shot glass is...the espresso streams are way beyond the DOF.
the DOF calculator gives:
Subject distance 10 in
Depth of field
Near limit 9.98 in
Far limit 10 in
Total 0.03 in
In front of subject 0.02 in (50%)
Behind subject 0.02 in (50%)
is there any way to accomplish this other than stacking...or is this just the nature of the macro lens?
