Hi all new SLR owner here. decided to go with the Canon Eos 5d for the FF, Grabbed it for little over $1200 used on the bay with Microsofts cashback deal they have going. I have two more cashbacks to use worth upto $250 on 1200 purchases so I am looking at some L glass for the new toy.

My uses:
1. I own a home theater company and need to take good photos of the finished projects. Many times with my current Pentax point and shoot I cant get anywhere near wide enough from the distance back I can get. This is why i decided to go for the 5d.

2. Reef Aquarium photos _ I have a nice saltwater reef tank I want to take photos of including macro and super macro shots of the critters and life.

From my research:

Lens 1: I am thinking either the 16-35 USM II or 16-35 USM I or 17-40 for use 1 above. of course the 16-35 II is the newest and most expensive but with the cashback deal I think i can grab one for a little over a grand. or I can step down to the older version and save a few hundred but I worry i will regret this once my photo skills improve and with the FF the reviews are not as good. Then the 17-40 seems to be another good choice with a large cash savings but I worry in some rooms I will need to add light where with the 2.8 USM II I might not need to. Do you think I will need light no matter what lens I use shooting Family Rooms, Media Rooms and some kitchens and lanais so dont worry so much about this and get the 4.0 and a nicer flash setup or get the 2.8 and be able to use more natural light? Most of these shots will be in new style florida homes (many windows and lots of light in general) during the daytime. Of course some media room shots will be done with the rooms blacked out and will require light? what would you recommend for this type shot?

Lens 2 : Macro for use 2 above - Im thinking either Canon 100MM or Sigma 150MM or Canon 180MM. Im concerned with the Canon 100 on the FF I wont have much distance but it seems by far to be the most used Macro choice and has a ton of bang for the buck. The Sigma 150 seems to have great reveiws and offers the same 2.8 as the cannon 100. I had wanted to stick with Canon glass but am really considering this one the more research i do and i think the 150MM will be good on the FF body. also alot of bang for the buck here. the Canon 180 L looks to be very high quality as well. I found a great buy on one of these and just about jumped on it but he didnt take paypal and i couldnt use the cashback discount so it pushed it back over a grand and made it not the steal it would have been at $800 I thought I was going to pay.Plus Im worried its to heavy and will have the most shake issues without some type of pod. So Im still looking at the options again

Optional Lens three (if theres any cash left) - seems like I need something with more length to fill out the package. Im thinking either the 100-400 IS or one of the 70-200IS's either the 2.8 or 4. I have also considered the 30-300 but it looks to heavy for me and its crazy expensive. Im thinking I would use this some at zoos, theme parks, with my dog (cute Jack Russell) and maybe at the beach and some weather shots here in FL.

Sorry about the novel and Thanks for your time if you made it here Id love to here your thoughts and or suggestions. I plan to grab at least lens 1 or 2 in the next couple days as my 5d is on the way.

For your first intended use, check out the following thread. I found it very useful:
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=503967

For your interior shots where you need UWA to catch the entire room, the 16-35 L II is quite wide on the 5D. ... You will love it. The MK II is purportedly a huge improvement over the MK I, although I have to admit I never shot the MK I.

As for your second intended use, I originally shot the EF-s 60mm macro and eventually switched to the EF 100mm macro. I felt a bit crowded with the 60mm and the extra working distance has been nice. Furthermore, the 100mm f/2.8 macro is an incredibly sharp prime lens that I use for non-macro purposes as well, including portraiture.
