The Crumplers have sides that come outward if you have too much gear inside. Hold only by side straps, not the top strap. The 802 you can hold either way and it's fine Why I like the old Velocity is that I could open it easily and reach in to get what I need. The 9X model is zipped and you have to unzip completely then reach in. There are many Domke models that are smaller than the F-2, but I think you'll have to check them out at B&H to see which you need.

Jag, I regularly travel to NYC from St.Louis Mo. And I use the Kata line of bags. I can carry everything I need and it is light and comfortable on my shoulders.

Can you share which kata's you have? I just ordered the h-16 with sling and am considering ordering a larger one at some point...maybe the t-214 or r-103.

Also, I have a Crumpler 6 mil which is stuffed to the gills and the flaps are folded inward so there are no worries of anything showing or anyone being able to get their hands in because it is velcroed and buckled down safely. It can be carried from the top handle on the top or over the shoulder via the shoulder strap.

I have crumpler, but I have mixed feeling about it. It is nice and stylish, not looking like a camera bag, this is the major plus. You and everyone else know the positive side of it. But let me tell you what I don't like about it and see if they matters to you. First, it is the unless handstrap. Remember don't get used to grab a hold of it, chances are if the buckel is not secure, the valco will give up and your gear will hit the ground. It almost happen to me a few times. Second is that it has very little space for anything else outside of main compartment. I really need to emphaszie how "little" it is. You should check it out in person to see what I mean. Other aspect are quite good.

The gear I plan on taking is my 40d, Sig 10-20; canon 17-55; 55-250; flash, cards, batteries, gorilla pod; maybe a couple of filters.

I would alike a bag that will hold all the above gear for the flight. When walking the streets of NYC, I will only carry 2 of the 3 lenses at any given time. I would also like to have room to carry cell phone, wallet, etc.

I would like something secure, but with easy access and as comfortable as possible.

I've been looking at MDH's and can't decide between 6 or 7. Also thought about slingshot.

Please help....
