I went to the park earlier today to see of I could freeze some action. I just invested in the Tamron 70-200. Fun lens.

I think the second shot has just about the same specs, too. But yeah, it occured to me how easy it would be to fake those shots. I think I took about 70 pics to nail those two shots.

I always just hold the shutter button down when the batter starts swinging and hope I get lucky. My YouTube Vlog: https://www.youtube.com/c/GarageFlips

Jul 15, 2008 20:47 | #11 I predicated my timing on the swing of the bat, not the velosity of the ball. Now unless the girls tend to hit the ball twice as fast and twice as far as the guys I was taking practice shots with, I predict I'd get about the same ratio of "bob shots" provided I was given the same number of opportunities.

Jul 16, 2008 09:30 | #13 So funny. Actually, I was behind it. When shooting with a zoom like the one I was using, it "disappears", but the trick here was manually focusing, because af would've thrown my shots off by focusing on the fence, at least part of the time.

The pitchers in fast pitch are that pitchers, hitting corners and trying to make the batters chase. At least the upper level teams. Bat speed in slow pitch is consistent, in fast pitch there is more last minute waiting on change ups, drops etc and speeding up on rises trying to get them in front of plate before the ball gets too high. Go shoot some I bet you will love the challenge, plus I think the game is more exciting than slow pitch softball with stealing, bunting and slap hitting. This was a line drive homerun that easily cleared a 225 foot fence
