CF or Camera HELP!!!

I have a Rebel XTi and now my camera has been taking half photos in black. Is it the camera or the CF card? I used 2 different CF cards and both are like that. I just recently used a CF card reader. I don't know if that would mess up the reader.

Please help! I have a shoot in 2 days and I don't want to buy/rent another camera.

Thanks in advance

wow that is bizzare. Looks like its camera to me. No reason a CF card would do that. make sure thre is nothing obstructing the mirror or sensor.

Na, just kidding, you are still a loser.

I am no expert, but that looks like a bad shutter. How old is the camera?

Can you post the EXIF of the image in case its not something fatal?

Just to make sure, but you are not using a flash or strobe with a radio trigger or PC cord, are you?

If not, it certainly looks like a shutter failure.

I was thinking it was flash sync too...

OP does this only happen with flash shots? If so, keep your shutter speed under 1/250 (I think that's correct) and it shouldn't do that.

That is your sub-mirror, or your shutter (if you are using off-camera strobes).

I have tried with no off camera flash and the same thing. But when I use a LONG shutter speed (ie 2") then I get the image. Does this mean the sub-mirror is busted and needs to be fix?

Thanks

It's a strobe with radio transmitter (PWs). I have tried without off camera flash.

The camera is about a year old. It should have a lot more life. I shot roughly 7500 shots already.

I can get a picture with a 2" shutter but of course I need it to be faster.

Sounds like sub mirror then. I would send it in. There is a possibility that it is the shutter, but this looks like a classic sub-mirror issue.

I concur with above posters. It's either a sub-mirror issue or shutter died at a young age.

Is this a common issue with all Canon bodies? or just the XTi
