I got the 430EX flash for my D Rebel XT and everything seems to be working fine. I tested most functions except for the wireless which I won't be using anyways, not right now. However, I am confused with one sentence in the manual.

<quote>
When the Speedlite is attached to a compatible camera, <<crop image>> will appear on the Speedlite’s LCD panel.

This never appears for any lens I attach to the camera. Canon 60mm -S prime, 70-200 f/4, 50mm prime etc. What are the compatible cameras? I thought Rebel XT supports ETTL II. I tried changing custom functions 9(?) ETTL II from Evaluative to Average, still doesn't happen.

Any clues? However, that doesn't seem to have any effect on the flash performance.
