Hello all! When I got into dSLR's earlier this year, I bought a Nikon 40D to learn how everything worked and see if it was something I would like to pursue. After just over 2 months of use and shooting all my friends Canon's I decided it was time to move up in the world and sprung for a 40D. I also purchased a "nifty fifty" and a nice Manfrotto tripod. I must say, I am in love with the camera. The only complaint I have is the 28-135mm kit lens. My pops has a 20D with a 17-85mm and IMO, it's a much better lens (pretty much the 28-135mm anyways after the 1.6x crop). Needless to say I am selling the 28-135mm and already have a 17-85mm on the way :D

Anyways, here are a few pictures.

My car..

Shot of my buddy's 335i..

And of course, a duck picture for you guys ..

While the 17-85 might be slightly better than the 28-135, I wouldn't say it's much better. If you're upgrading, you may do well looking into some of the other options available. They may be better for your money.

Why sell the 28-135? It's very good for the money you pay in the kit, and when you need more reach than the 17-85 provides, you already have it.
I kept my 28-135, in spite of having 17-85, 24-105 and 35-135 as well.

My 28-135 rivals my EF 24-105 mm f/4L IS USM as far as image quality goes, which in turn isn't too far behind the almost legendary EF 70-200 mm f/4L IS USM.

They don't eat bread once you have them.

Now this is what we like to see. New members that understand the rules. Although you do receive one demerit for the duck shot not being the first of the group. :p hjs

It's a great camera just be aware that you may have to sharpen in post. :)

Many new 40D owners didn't realize this and there are numerous posts about soft images on 40Ds.

Nice shots Eric. Hope you enjoy the 40D. I told you at the dragon if you had had a Canon you could've borrowed, now I guess you can. Nice Duck too ;).

I have to work this weekend but I am planning on going out to Barber next Saturday before the Bama GZ meet to take pictures of my roommate doing a motorcycle track day. If you aren't doing anything, it'd be nice to have some company.

I have a bunch if Ls, and other than build quality, the 28-135 hangs pretty well.
