What can I do with this? Where did I go wrong when I shot it? I leveled the camera and I still have difficulty with it. Archtectural photos give me fits. Grrrrrr:mad:

PS: I hope this is in the right forum. I can't remeber if there is a specific forum/thread for this or not.;)

I'd either go wider to get the entire building, or tighter to get one specific, interesting portion of this building.

Also, similar to another photo you have posted, this photo has entirely too much noise. What camera are you shooting with and what is the ISO? It shouldn't be necessary to shoot with a high ISO on an outdoor shot in daylight.

lhoney2--

See my response to you in the other post. It's a scan from a color print. More explanation in the other post

The scene has too much contrast to begin with and the copying via a scanner exacerbates that situation. The original scene probably needed HDR procedures to have any hope of keeping detail in both the highlights and shadows.

Making a print and then scanning it just worsens the situation dramatically.

It looks like the camera was tilted up, which would cause severe convergence of verticals, and then there may have been perspective correction attempted during pp, which was at least partly successful.

A big improvement could be realized by waiting for an overcast or partly sunny day to reduce the contrast, but shooting RAW and using HDR would be quicker.

I think that Robert summed up the situation very well.

One other item that needs to be mentioned is the physical size limitation for posted images, which is a maximum of 1024 pixels in either horizontal or vertical direction even if it is being hosted on another site.
