Why would a professional display their work on Flickr in the first place?

I have my own website, but I post some of my work on flickr (low resolution) to get exposure. Because of flickr, I will have one of my photos published in a calender in the Yosemite gift shop.

I am not a "professional" photographer, even though I have a newspaper buying my images on a regualar basis. I have my own Smugmug site and I would not marginalize my photography by posting images on a second-rate, amateurish site like Flickr. Besides, it looks crappy...
