I also noticed that this was a purely greyscale image with just one channel, which suggests that your B+W conversion method probably leaves a little to be desired. Just converting to greyscale is a very sub-optimal way of getting a successful B+W image.

A couple curves layers, and I dodged the eyes some, and a little sharpening. Just needs contrast really.

Sorry to be the voice of dissent, but I think contrast is the last thing this image needs.

Thanks for all the c/c

Also, it was originally taken in grayscale, it wasn't converted.

I am not sure how to edit eyes yet, I tried and they came out looking freaky. Here is my go at another PP

Just so you know, the camera takes the picture in colour and converts it to grayscale for you. You have much more control of the end product by taking the image in colour and doing your own conversion to black and white.

Curves. Pulled the midtones and lights up, then sloppily burned the background. Had to save 7/10 quality for upload.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)
