Those who remember the 1980's police helicopter movie "Blue Thunder" might think this aircraft is that helicopter's cousin. It swooped over the Eldora Speedway during the Kings Royal sprint car race. The fuselage number shows the aircraft belongs to a Michigan company and not to Tony Stewart, the speedway owner, by the way.

Looks like you were going back and forth between "auto" and "shutter priority". Your prop blur is best when you dropped the shutter speed down. Although, some sharpness was lost. Maybe you can photoshop the rotor from #3 and place in on #2 ;).

Nice shoot'n!

Cousin isn't the right word............... GREATGRANDCHILD is much closer. The original "Blue Thunder" was a highly modified SA-341 Gazelle. Then there were a at least 2 more generations of Eurocopters and this one (EC-120) came out. They do share the "fenstrom" which is the tail "fan", its safer and more effective than a tail rotor, of course it has a LOT more moving parts. Other than being slower, the EC-120 is about 10 light years ahead of the Gazelle.............

Switched back and forth from auto to shutter priority and got shutter speeds of 1/40, 1/1000, 1/60 and 1/800 - just to see what would happen. I still like trying to stop the rotor blades in a few images. :)

I see quite a bit of dust on your sensor in the slower shots that you may have to clean off if you want to use the slower speeds.

Cheers Barry
