Today I went back out to visit the osprey. Fortunately they weathered last week's storms with no problem. I always wonder how they manage to stay on that high platform with all the wind. The chicks are getting bigger so I was able to get some better looks. The female does a good job of shading them from the sun.

Last time I posted, some folks were interested in my setup with the stacked teleconverers (2x and 1.4x), so here are some photos of that.

I'm really bad at estimating distances. If I knew the height of the pole I could tell you ... maybe I can find out.

Thanks for sharing these Liz and the stacked set up works great. I'm trying to decide whether my next lens is going to be a 300/2.8 or 500/4 and demonstrations like these are showing just what the 500 can be pushed to.

I am awestruck at these images! Thanks for showing them and the set up and gear you used. One of the great things about this forum is how much can be learned and the fact that there are so many willing to share. Thanks again!

Very nice Liz.
Thanks for the follow up.

Ah, yes I did try live view! It was interesting see how bad the camera shake was every time I touched the lens.
