Took the family to camp near the ghost town of Bodie ,Ca. and the near by town of Masonic. If your ever in the area of Bridgeport, Ca. I really recommend checking these places out. Any CC is appreciated.

I LOVE Bodie. It's been years since I have been there, thanks for the reminder that I need to go back!

Very well captured photos. Excellent compositions - using the foreground and the background.

You have no idea how excited I am right now! I teach 8th grade English Language Arts and my students said that the Bodie unit was their favorite of the year. I googled photos and put them on the computer in my classroom and on the overhead, did lots of creative writing, etc... Anyway- yours are way better than the others I found. Great job. I really want to visit there:) Thanks for sharing!

...But still the clever north wind was not satisfied. It spoke to her of towns yet to be visited, friends yet to be discovered...

Thank you. The combination of no smog, a storm rolling in and a polarized filter really showed off the sky.

Yiskah, The whole Bodie area is really very interesting and full of history Google Earth has some very nice pics posted on their site and gives a nice idea how isolated this town was. Thanks for the comments.

Do you just roam around, or is it more of a guided tour thing?

Bodie is State Park now and maintained in a state of "arrested decay" by the Rangers. If you show up at specific times, you can take a guided tour or you can just kinda raom around looking at the different building. Many of the People of Bodie just left one day leaving behind everything from furniture, to clothes, to old cars.
The nearby town of Masonic is in the hills and is not maintained in any way. Actually the many open mine shafts and unstable structures make Masonic quite dangerous as opposed to the museum type area of Bodie.
Hear are acouple more pics that show Bodie alittle better.
