did you guys see that someone else had THE SAME problem (not with an 8gb though) with a silicon power card and a mk2? That's so interesting to me because I've never had a problem with these cards. I'm sure it's the card though, now. It must just not be working right with the older bodies because it works great on the new ones.

Glad to see your issue was validated by someone else. How very strange that it's specific to that brand.

I can't believe you have to submit them so early -- a lot of counties haven't even had their fair yet....

Judging is this coming Saturday, then the fair starts in 3 weeks. They're dealing with major volume (between 1200-1800 prints just in the Salon - that's not counting Juveniles and the International competition).

timbernet wrote in post #6000676 (external link)
I thought about entering, but it wasn't worth my time.

Not everyone is an internationally known photog. We need every little bit of feedback we can get.

timbernet wrote in post #6000700 (external link)
Nah, it is just, I would have to pick some prints, get them printed, fill out the forms, drive to Salem, wait, get them submitted, pick them up later... for what? A ribbon?

Or you could mail them.

Your disdain is quite unbecoming! :p

Permagrin wrote in post #6001709 (external link)
mostly good...there was this one real tall meany head who kept saying "why are they exhibiting these shots when MINE are so much better".

Hater.:p

FuryMe wrote in post #6001723 (external link)
I think I know of whom your speaking. But I've never been romantically linked with said person, so I'll just stay outta that one.

Dood. I'm thinking you're going to want to start engaging your brain before you engage your keyboard. Otherwise you end up with a rectal/cranial inversion. Not good. Not good at all.

Permagrin wrote in post #6001728 (external link)
dude, that makes two of us. I was talking about TD, NOT Puddle (my husband).

LOL! Puddle's only 5'9" dripping wet. I'm 6'4"!

FuryMe wrote in post #6001742 (external link)
Ouch this hurts, LOL. I thought about that after I hit the button.

Not nearly as much as the size 15s will. Just saying.

I know - I am just building suspense

I don't care what anyone says. No matter how many times you do it, it never gets old.:p

hmmmm
food for thought
done a bit more poking round on the internet (as you do) and the consensus apears to be that for a cropped bod save the cash and go for the mk1

I have the original 16-35 and it really is a decent lens...I don't think it is quite as sharp as my 17-40....but I see no earthly reason to sell my version to buy the "new and improved" Mark II. I think on anything other than a 1Dsmk3, you will never see the difference. The added advantage to the original version is the 77mm filter size should you want to toss one on.

Thanks for clearing that up...

Ahhh you must be getting ready for the studio tour this weekend!!! I'll be interested to hear how that goes!!! :D

Be sure to see the word NOT was accidentally omitted from your first quote.

Studio tour is still 3 weeks away...or so I hope....as I have absolutely nothing to show yet...
