Actually, the standing places were free entrance. You just had to pay to be seated along the main line. So I just went there and tried to find a "good spot". Unfortunately for me, there were many people and lots of press photographers. As I had a good angle, some of them always came in front of me (but I was to far away to be able to tell them anything and I would have lost my spot if I had moved...

Example: I had a great angle for the start of Oscar Pistorius (external link). Of course, a press photographer brought a chair and climbed on it just 20m in front of me

You can see his back here

Well, it is frustrating! But I've got plenty of other shots of him... And although he did improve his personal best (46''25), it's not enough to qualify for the Games 400m. But he still has good chances to be taken in RSA 4x400 relay...

I'm confused...why are all these people from other countries trying to make the Swiss Olympic team?

They're not trying to make the Swiss Olympic team, they're trying to make their own country team. But it was the last competition before the deadline. So many of them came for a last chance...

Seing the emotion on the faces of the few who did make it was really great. You could see it was as if they had won a medal in an important championship...

As you can see, Sally McLellan (AUS) did make it (100m hurdles)

Bokeh refers to the characteristics of the out of focus areas of an image. Large aperture lenses tend to produce smoother, more visually appealing bokeh. The number of blades in the aperture also plays a major role as well....the more blades, the smoother the bokeh tends to be.

Oooh technical, thanks

Gives a new meaning to "Hey look at that fokeh!"...just don't say it in public whilst pointing at people

Bokeh refers to the quality of the OOF highlights. Lenses can exhibit good, neutral, or bad bokeh. Good bokeh is typically found when the outer edge of the highlight smoothly transitions to the edges. Bad bokeh typically has a hard ring around the highlight.

MFD is just over 7 feet.

Yes! It is subliminal. You weren't supposed to point that out!

Nice, thanks

But there were some people from the US there -- and the US Olympic Track and Field trials were held in Oregon a few weeks ago... I guess I am confused...

There are lots of trials around the world to get into the respective Olympic teams.

Didier, that last one is fantastic.

On another note...I just talked to Samy's (because the UPS guy has gone by w/no stop) and they WON'T give me the tracking number for my package. They say that they don't want people to re-route the package...I said "look if they deliver it elsewhere I'd like to know about it" and he said "you'll have to go through us". I've never bought from a business that won't give you your tracking number.
