Mooooorning all :)

I'm thinking that I need to do a lot more walking with a loaded camera bag on one shoulder and camera on the other, then mix in a few camera curls every now and then. Hmmmm. . . maybe that means I just need to go out walking and shooting more. ;)

Looks like a fantastic event on all accounts, but I'm thinking I might be voting with Mike on this one. Great job, Permie.

I will, however, give extra credit to the Cap'n for his Salmon shot.

King crab is good, but Dungeness crab is really where it's at. And I'm not just saying that because it was dinner tonight, either.

Yeah, it takes a while to get used to hauling the heavier gear but trust me, you do get used to it. You may collapse in a heap at the end of the day though

and thanks re: the photos!

I agree, I much prefer dungeness crab over king crab. The flavor (fresh off the ships and still alive before you cook it) is (for me at least) much different. Seems like king crab is not as sweet and a little more mushy (and by sweet I don't mean sugary...I just can't think of the word I want).

And here are the four images I think I've decided to enter into the Fair. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Deadline is Wednesday noon, but I'm probably going to deliver things by Monday afternoon.

The possible categories are Photojournalism, Portrait, Nature, Children, Animals, Creative Color, Monochrome, Photo Travel, Washington, Humor, Human Interest, and General.

1. Great Blue Heron Profile (Animals)

2. Lake Tahoe Pier (Photo Travel)

3. Sunriver Sunrise (Nature)

4. On Wings of Angels (General? Photojournalism? Not sure)

These are gorgeous. If you don't win anything, the judges are twits.

Before I made the Big Committment, I wanted to see how I could handle that big camera with heavy lenses, etc. Plus this was fairly cheap for a 1D body and it holds it resale value well so I could always sell it if I want to upgrade. It does have alearning curve although I think I about have it down after today.

It does have a learning curve. I still have to think first before I make my switches (i.e. "now what two buttons was it again that I push"). One of these days I hope, it'll be automatic.

Guess that is another reason to head that way....have some safe salmon!

Absolutely! We'll take you over to the coast and find some of the good stuff!

For the folks that don't always catch up with TPBM but know the folks over there....some sad news to report. https://photography-on-the.net …?p=6085566&postcount=8356

thanks for this. I do a skim catchup anymore when things are busy.

oh nice!

Are they for the show too? Did you have them printed on metallic? Seems like they'd look very nice on that.

I've never actually done anything on metallic paper until the horses, Chief, and they aren't here yet. I read though that it's recommended to use highly colored shots for that sort of paper.

Nice portrait of Mrs. Chief.

I've never seen a portrait done on metallic...unless it was a b/w conversion....those work very well on it.
