like buying a car, you get a standard model, then you fork out an arm and a leg for all the additional crap that you wished came standard with the initial price..

Or you go into the dealer looking for a "standard" model and all they have are the gussied up ones...

What seems to be getting overlooked is this...While Canon doesn't make a huge percent of their profit from the pro market...if every pro decided to jump ship....odds are fairly good that there would be a tremendous trickle down effect...especially via the forums. It only makes sense that if you aren't going to take care of your pro market...you sure as hell aren't going to give a damn about lowly consumers. Not a good way to run any kind of show.

I doubt there'd be much trickle down to where the real money is in digital cameras—the point and shoot market. It might affect the entry level and pro-sumer DSLR markets, but I doubt the average purchaser of a P&S digital reads photography forums.

I'd say the G9. Put it on green box and go.

this is a green box mode shot...no joke
QUOTED IMAGE

I consistently get shots like that with that camera. It's slightly noisy but no more so than other P&S...I'd highly recommend it.

I've owned the

a620,
s3-is
panasonic TZ1
and had access to the G5

I like this by far the best (followed by the S3).

I'll vouch for that being a G9 shot... I was there when she took it.

One of these days I'm going to process my desert shots!! I have another shot of Heather (a window shot like yours) and I think one or two more of you, I'd have to check...but all those landscapes...I've just done nothing!

no thanks, the only reason I'd sell it is to get the nikon so that I can buy that 14-24. (I do many UWA portraits...it's my favorite style) and I'm in love with that lens. I like how the nikon feels too.

Nikon? Traitor!!
