This may be a stupid question...but can i use the 5000K flourescent bulbs in my "hot light" set? I have a Smith Victor set of continuous lights.

Wilt Reader's Digest Condensed version of War and Peace [POTN Vol 1] More info | Jul 16, 2008 16:34 | #4 No reason why you wouldn't be able to screw in a CFL bulb in place of a tungsten lamp...the issue might be lack of intensity...you can get photofloods of 250W to 650W, and the highest CFL I have seen is equivalent to 100W. Color balance may be an issue. I have shot things for POTN illustration which were done with CFL and the setting of 2900k for the Lightroom balance gave very neutral results (validated against a Macbeth Color Checker). BDDigitalImages Senior Member 557 posts Joined Nov 2007 More info | Jul 16, 2008 18:12 | #5 I use 55 watt fluorescents (250 watt equal) that I got on ebay in my continuous set that is almost the same as the smith-vector ones and have used them for over 2 years.The ones I use are 5000K daylight balanced. So I would say yes you should be able to use them.
