ok so Im realizing that my Canon Rebel XT is becoming outdated. Is there anyone one out there that can sell me on a new camera? I am far from a millionaire, so price does make a difference. I guess what Im asking is whats the best bang for my buck, or should I just stick with my rebel?

The more money you spend the better the camera. How about telling us what the most youre willing to spend is?

What is actually your main reason for changing?
If people have the equipment which serves them well enough I have no idea why they wish to change it (maybe to have the latest equipment?). (I not mean you personally here).
I think it is much more wise to upgrate lenses then camera for beter photos.

So ur saying its not really worth it to buy a new camera? I mean I totally agree with the lens part but I was just wondering if the XT is just crap compared to today technology as a whole with DSLR's

one gripe I do have on the XT is the crappy picture quality at high ISO, its practically worthless at ISO 1600

now would could you say to make me forget about the XT in comparison to the 40D?

I know I can read about these things but I prefer to hear it from people that actually use the equitment on this site.

You have not told us what you shoot but looking at your gear list. I would say stick with your camera. The best thing you can do to increase you image quality is get good lens. You do not have a good fast lens. The Canon 17-40L is good but not fast.

The 50 is fast and pretty good but still.

Look for a 70-200 2.8 IS
100 2.8 macro
If you want to spend some bucks get a 85 1.2 or a 300 2.8 is

Fast sharp lenses will increase you image quality in sharpness, contrast, and color.

Cameras come then go away
Quality lenses are here to stay.

Get some good lenses and wait to upgrade the camera. Nikon is pushing the envelope as far as features, price and FF. Canon will compete and produce better cheaper cameras. A good lens will increase picture quality with your XT for now and also work when you upgrade your camera in the future and make that camera even better in terms of image quality.

New good lenses will not only increase IQ but give you more creative ways to use fstops wide open to isolate subjects, allow you to shoot when light is low without flash. It will improve your images and creativity. Good luck

nope, you dnt have to forget your 300D. now that you have a 2nd body, your expanding your arsenal im saying that 40D is a very good upgrade coming from 300D. budget wise and specs, new tech. cmos sensor etc.

IMO Best bang for the buck...

Adorama is selling refurbished 30D cameras for $640 with free shipping. This is IMO an excellent deal and I have been shooting with a refurb 30D for well over a year now with no problems. Contrast that with my 10D and 350D which I bought new and needed to send each in for service within the first 90 days of ownership.

The 30D is an excellent camera and is head and shoulders above the 350D and not too far below the 40D in capabilities.

You mentioned, "Well basically Im looking for the over all package but I guess if I had to pin point one thing I would have to say I care most about Image quality."

I seriously doubt whether you will see a great remarkable improvement in image quality between the 350D and an updated camera 30D, 40D, XTi or XTSi. The 350D with a top-line lens is capable of excellent image quality. The operative phrase is "with a top-line lens". IMO, if you are working with the kit lens, you will notice a greater improvement by staying with the 350D and going to a top-line lens than by upgrading your camera. However, what you will notice if you upgrade to a 30D or 40D is greatly improved handling characteristics and improved features such as burst speed, etc..
