No, that's the price you pay after rebate... Lucky to have that.... I paid $1,084.12 in April for mine... Probably your best deal here with the memory card...

With each successive generation XT - XTi - XSi the IQ of the 1.6X cameras does probably get a tiny bit better, but it isn't something you are likely to notice without really straining at 100% crops. I think the XT itself represented about the beginning of the IQ plateau for the 1.6X cameras.

Similarly, going to an XXD camera is also not going to bring much in the way of better IQ. What it brings is better handling, more features and bigger size with more weight.

Beyond that there is the 5D which does have better IQ than the 1.6X cameras but is no better featured than a 30D.

Beyond that are the various 1D and 1Ds bodies, some of which have better IQ than the 5D (particularly the latest mark 3 versions) and all of which have better features.

hmm good point, they always do go down around that time and when the new cams come in. So what do u want in 40d in comparison to the XT?

Absolutely... I see the prices of the 40D hovering to around a grand, maybe a bit more... It would have to stay above the Xsi because it's a better camera... It would be foolish to lower a prosumer camera below the Xsi, at least for now...

You really think they will go back up in price after they have had them below $939 :)
